Make Broken Flowerpots into Magic Gardens

I do not usually condone violence or the breaking of perfectly good flowerpots but in this instance, I think people are being very creative.  I mean, we are in the middle of scary times, so it is no wonder that some people are escaping into creativity and mystical fairy realms.

There are a lot of these on Instagram with many people posting pictures of their own wee spaces.  While other people look at books to find inspiration, a quick search on mini terra cotta gardens reveals other mini gardens.  .

The beauty is in the details…

But where do you get the small items to put into your small garden?  How do you begin?

  1. Decide on the container that you’ll use.or break up terra cotta pots to create a stage.
  2. Sketch out the layout of your garden with a stick, or draw it out on a piece of paper.
  3. You might pick a theme, like a fairy land, beach, moutain, or your own backyard.
  4. Pick a tiny tree or house as a focus point for your garden. You can also use woody herbs like sage, rosemary, or lavender.
  5. Let your imagination go wild!
  6. Add the tiny accessories, and there you have it!

You can use resin figures that you get online or from a hobby supply or art store.  A little paint, glue, moss, real twigs and pebbles can make your own tiny world.

You can even use this technique to plan your own life size garden.
